Hello Everyone,
My name is Brandi and I have a 2.5 year old boxer girl named Molly. I fell in love with the boxer breed at a young age, and from the moment I laid eyes on a boxer I knew I would always have one in my life in some shape or form. When I was 16 I bought my first boxer boy and had him for 3 years. After I had my first son Butch (my boxer boy) had to be re-homed because my son could not breathe around him. Once my son outgrew his allergies I began to foster animals and fostered a couple of boxers. One day I spoke with my husband and we decided to adopt a boxer. So began my long search for the right fit for our family. I had all but given up after meeting so many beautiful boxers that just would not fit in my home (mainly due to issues with children and cats) when I decided to check craiglist. It was then that I found Molly and inquired about her. After several weeks of waiting for the owners to choose the right home I received a call saying I could pick her up after she was fully vetted.

Now here I am with my baby girl. Molly is the best dog she is great with kids and loves everyone. she is fully house trained, spayed and knows several tricks. We love Molly so much and she is such a huge part of our lives.
A friend of my husbands is needing to find a home for his 6 month old brindle boxer boy. Because of the dedication we give our Molly he wants us to meet his fur kid and see if we would want to add him to our home. I do not know if we will be bringing him to live with us or not but we have agreed to let him and Molly (and our kids) meet tomorrow and go from there.

Now I will share a little about me... I am the mom to 7 kids (3 of my own and 4 step kids) ages 4-9 I raise them all with an amazing husband who not only takes care of me and his 4 kids, but treats my children as his own as well. I am a stay at home mom, I am 29 years old tomorrow (10-9) and I am also a full time student (majoring in health care administration with a concentration in elder and long term care)...
This is pretty much my story and how I came to be the proud mommy to Molly and a little bit about me, I can't wait to get to know each and every one of you.

Brandi, greetings from Milwaukee Wisconsin, what a wonderful life, and Molly is in heaven with all those kids :0) Although people take the approach (always room for one more) do think about the impact of bringing in another dog. If your family currently lives in great harmony, that could become upset with another dog. You may want to have a canine behaviorist or trainer come to visit as well to see how dynamics will play out...

Hello and thanks for the advise. I know all of the pro's and con's of bringing in another furkid. I have fostered for years and over those years been connected with great trainers and have a trainer that works with my molly. Thankfully I am lucky enough to have a home and land for our furkiddies to play and run and the means to have them trained.
I do not know if we will be bringing him in or not yet, I have to meet him and spend time with him to know his personality and his reactions with molly (as well as hers with him) in a neutral place. I of course will not know anything until after spending the day with him.

I am glad you offered that advise because so many individuals take in animals thinking it will all be peaches and cream, then that poor kid is sitting in a shelter some place because they "didnt get along with my dog" or "they are they worse dog ever" .. yada yada...Its sad really. But it brightend my day logging in to see you offer that advise.

Thanks everyone. I look forward to the site and mostly will be logging in late at night due to my schedule with school, kids, and our dogs.
In addition to Molly, we have a cocker spaniel we rescued 2 years ago, an amazon parrot we rescued 3 years ago and a siamese cat we rescued 5 years ago. We love our babies so much and are lucky to have a home and land large enough to let them run and have fun. In addition to all the people in our home that helps with them. Our children help share the responsibilities of bathing, feeding, walking and playing with our animals. I feel this teaches them responsibility they will carry into their adult lives. At least I can raise 7 kids who I believe will not grow up to adopt animals then drop them on the sides of the road or pass from home to home.
I also let my children volunteer at the local shelters to help with homeless animals because I feel the experience is something they will carry with them always.

We live a very active and interesting life lol

Welcome to the forum Brandi, nice to get to know you. How did the meeting go with the 6 month old puppy - did you come to any decision about him?

Yes we are trying to help the owners work it out and be able to keep him, if not then he shall come to live with us. We are going to help get him food and a better shelter. We are also going to use Molly to have play dates (they done well together) and try to socialize him a bit more. He is a doll baby and the owners truly care for him they are just in a tight spot. So we will offer all the help we can offer to them, and in the end if it still doesn't work then we will provide him a home.
