Hello!

I wanted to introduce myself. I currently have a male irish wolfhound, who is 2 1/2 and a female black lab, who is 10 years old. Sadly on Monday, I am going to have to send my 2 year old female rescued dane to the rainbow bridge. She was abused before we rescued her, and she has become terribly aggressive in the past month. She attacked me and my daughter. I am a devastated mess. We are waiting out the 10 day rabies quarantine, and then on Valentine's Day, ironically, I will put my heart dog down.
So, we will be looking to get a puppy a while into the future. I started our search, with much encouragement from my hubby, because my dane was my special dog, and I can not imagine life without her. I never expected to figure out what we were going to do for months, but fate stepped in and I found our breeder!!! She is perfect, shows, health tests, supports RAW feeding, everything I wanted to find. The bitch is going into heat in April. I should get my puppy in September. I can not wait. I am so excited to learn all about boxers here, and get as much knowledge as possible before we bring our puppy home. It is a weird feeling being devastated and psyched at the same time, but I have to do something positive to get through this.
I also have a three teenagers, and the best hubby I could ask for, I guess I should add that! I look forward to being a part of this forum.

Welcome CRBoxer, you will absolutely love this group. I'm Marylou from Milwaukee Wisconsin, you will be amazed at the greatness of the Boxer, and understand why this breed has been so popular for as long as it has been around.
Your pup will fit in beautifully, and your children will really love the puppy, as will your other dogs, My boxers live with Dachshunds and Rottweilers.

Thank you, MaryLou. I have so many questions and have so much to learn about the breed. I wish my pup was coming sooner, but I will soak up all I can in the meantime. I would rather wait for a reputable, well bred pup, then be impulsive and get heartache. I have seen far too many people do that in the dane world, and after our rescue dane experience, I want a solid minded and bodied dog. My pups lineage is very long lived and healthy, and temperamentally sound. I am so EXCITED!!

We rescued her when she was 7 months and she was a fearful mess. She turned two sometime in the last two weeks, we are not certain of her birth date. She is funny, playful, smart, entertaining, obedient, and sadly, aggressive. I really don't know what I am going to do without her, but she can no longer safely live in society, so I must do this. Some evil person abused her and ruined her, before the time she was a 5 month old puppy. As hard as we tried, some damage is just not fixable, and some wounds just never heal.
I have been searching through the behavior threads, and am so happy to find a lack of people aggression in the boxers. I can not tell you how important that is to me. I need to focus on my future puppy, to get me through the up and coming weeks.

Her name is Carlie. Our IW is Reilly and our lab is Tori.
I am hoping for a male boxer, only because we are in a dog playgroup with a dane and we have our IW. They play hard, and the larger size of the male will be beneficial for us. We have not picked a name yet. My 17 year old son is autistic, and he very bonded with Carlie. He never bonded with any person or animal like that before, and I am not sure he will again. It is heart wrenching. I am hoping that if I give him a list, he will pick a name off of the list to name our pup, and have some ownership in it. He will also be in tech school next year with a more flexible schedule, so he will be home a lot during the day with the pup, and will help with training. Right now, he does not want another dog, he wants Carlie. Our long wait time for the pup will be good for him.

Thank you so much. We are in the Bethlehem/ Easton area. My hubby works in Branchburg NJ. Are you near us? We would love to get to meet people with boxers and have some experience being around them before our baby comes.

I know Easton is right over the boarder from NJ.
We are just a little further south east from Branchburg, if that's where I think it is. I know where Bridgewater mall is, which is probably about a 45 minute ride from me.
We are in Old Bridge, NJ (Central NJ)
