Alot do start off with pre pack because of being usure about "getting it right" like you, and will eventually move away from it when they get a little confidence . Going RAW can be confusing at first, just to give you another way at looking at RAW feeding, think of it in terms of a 10 day period - in that 10 day period the equivalent to 8 days worth of muscle meals, 1 day worth of bone meals and 1 day worth of organ meals would be the balanced 80/10/10, you just "mix it up" a little . This is sort of what I base my monthly dog meat purchase on: Ruby eats a total of 1kg per day, so in a month (x30) she gets something like 24kg meat/3kg bones/3kg offal. Here is a link to a RAW feeding calculator that can be useful, use it as a starting guide and work up or down depending on her condition - needs to gain or loose weight (you mentioned you needed advice on how much to feed).
Wow, thanks Gizelle, this is great info. I like the way you describe it in a 10 day period, that makes sense to me. Hopefully the pre packed will ease us into raw a bit better in terms of making sure we're giving her everything she needs and then like you said we'll be more confident with mixing our own. Also thanks for that link... going to check it out.

That is good advice! That's me - a perfectionist, so I do need to sit back and not stress!
