She also said that when we are home that we should make sure when we put her in her kennel that you always have something to occupy her I.E. the kong with some pb or a couple toys.
I guess we will see how it goes

when i was doing my research on raw feeding, one thing I recall is bf liver should not be given. Chicken & calf is supposed to be fine...but only 1-2x per wk. Actually i don't even give chicken liver at all anymore bc it was causing runny poos.

I learned my lesson with liver... never again for Rex!!! I used chicken liver, but guess since he has poop problems to begin with, that was a mistake.

Really? could you give me the source or link as I always feed beef offal including liver and so far never had issues. I was infact told if you have a dog that is a little anaemic that beef liver is better than chicken because red meat especially the offal is much higher in iron than chicken. Also read alot of articles and been told by other raw feeders that they feed all types of offal from different protein sources like lamb, beef, wild game, chicken etc without issues so I am curious to the reasoning for not feeding it. I would not be comfortable limiting the liver I feed to chicken only I really believe in variety of everything when raw feeding.
Also just a thought, could the runny poop from the chicken liver actually be from an allergy to chicken, the liver is much richer than the muscle so it is possible that the reaction to the chick liver be stronger than the reaction to the chick muscle (I know you are suspecting that Memo has issues with chicken and it would kind of fit)

We feed liver also, although in pretty small amounts, less than 5% of their total diet. I actually haven't done beef liver yet, but will in december (or at least I was planning on it).

Georgie gets the runs from chicken liver but when I give her a meat mix that has liver in it she seems to do OK. I think she just need to get use to it. I gave her turkey liver and she had no problem with it.

This was the only thing I could find in regards to it being "bad" for them, but it's not saying don't feed it but to feed in moderation - that goes for any kind of liver though......

Cow Liver
Although liver contains a lot of nutrients, feeding too much liver to our dogs is a no-no. In very large quantities, beef liver can be toxic to dogs because it contains large amounts of vitamin A.

haha you are better than me Gizelle! i've been racking my brain here trying to remember where i found the info. I know that i'd read something about it when i started doing research on raw meat...and it could've been something about the Vitamin A?? Anyways i'd never given it but wished i could bc it's the cheapest organ i can get....so i guess very little is ok?

Well, I still plan on feeding it I wouldn't say to feed only beef liver but try to give a variety of liver, as each type seems to contain different levels - I do chicken, lamb and beef throughout each month and will continue to do so, after reading about how much Vitamin A beef liver has compared to chicken I myself would never feed beef liver only but if it was unavoidable I would just give a very small amount.
I had a little look to find out how different types of liver compare:

Liver, which stores the vitamin, is very rich in it: a whop-ping 30,000 IU in 3 ounces (85.05 g) of beef liver, and 13,000 IU in the same amount of chicken liver.

3 oz of raw lamb liver has about 20,600 IU Vitamin A according to NutritionData.
