How do you feed fish?
To remove this ad please Register
How do you use fish in the raw diet? Do you skin it and bone it and give it to them, or do you give them the whole thing as it comes?
What kind of fish do you all use? And is there any kind of fish we shouldnt use, or only use sparingly?
Thanks

Smaller ones are best I was told, as they are "oilier". The ones that seem to be used most are herring, sardines, mackerel etc. Because they aren't huge you just give them "as is" or for a dog that wont touch it whole cut into chunks

I feed canned mackerel . I just dump it in the bowl - I do remove most of the water .
Depending on where you live fresh salmon should be avioded ( Washiington state , Alaska) . Dogs can get salmon poisoning from eating too much fresh salmon .

Hope theres not too much salmon in this! Or is the poisoning from the heavy metals and toxins in the fish (not that processed salmon wouldn't have that)

No, this is different from the heavy metal issue , it is from a parasite.

I give mine whole little sprats raw, but filleted mackeral [raw] - I know dogs can eat raw fish bones but I don't like them - I think they are like little daggers - just my funny thing though - plenty feed and have no problems. I also give them tinned salmon every now and then too. I think I have a video on here somewhere of Ruby eating sprats...and a heart that I found in the back of the fridge that was going out of date...............
