Weve been feeding Charlie on the raw diet now since we got him with great results. He loves it and alwys asks for more. LOL

We do keep a few tins of dog food for emergencies and last night we were all feeling a bit under the weather so we just snacked and werent really fit to sort Charlies food as usual (We/I really do go over the top with his food LOL) so he had some tinned dog food.

Well he sat there, looked at it, sniffed it, starred at us a while, looked at it some more, whimpered about it and really didnt want it but finally ate it.

He woke my other half up at early hours of the morning, fragged him to the patio door and as my partner wasnt quick enough he vomited the tinned food all over the floor and just outside the patio door. He was a good pup by trying to let us know he wasnt feeling good! We couldnt tell him off for making a mess because he was good!

So now were left with this. Come fire or ice, regardless of how bad we might feel, our boy is not getting tinned food. Poor little charlie!

Amazing how it unsettled his stomach so much! He is fine with the dry mix in the mornings (although he doesnt like it much either and much prefers a bowl of mince meat) but I guess the tinned dog food is just too much for him.

Whenever Im cooking he does seem to think ALL raw meat is for him. Silly pup!

yeah i have heard tinned food(or as we call it caned food)can make them sick if they havent had it for a while. Bo doesnt get raw food, but once we had to give him a can to hold him till we could make it to the pet store to get him his normal stuff, and it gave him terrible juicey poops all day, then was normal after we got him to normal stuff.

They get acclimated to the good stuff in a hurry, don't they? Buddy stayed with our son for a few days while we were gone and they aren't really into feeding raw so we sent along some kibble. (Not the Blue Wilderness Duck we're using now) and Buddy wouldn't eat it - for the whole 3-4 days we were gone! "Food snob" our son joked. Then he's making hamburgs for his family and Buddy's sitting there staring hard at him ("You are thinking of feeding a dog. A dog named Buddy.") so our son tosses him a glob of raw burger - GULP! "More please?" haha.

I don't know how long he would have held out but he sure was glad to get home and have his raw!

Gosh I am lucky with my lot, this past week Ruby has been on a mixture of tinned food [Lily's kitchen http://www.lilyskitchen.co.uk/food-f...i0miiui2b2i97] and cooked meals because of her mouth and she just eats the lot with both Jakey and Roddy coming round after to give her bowl an extra extra clean. My dogs aren't fussy, well, tell a lie, Jakey is a little fussy over fruits - strawberries and pears aren't a big favourite of his, but once it's blended in with yoghurt or his other food, it all goes down. The trouble I have is stopping them from eating food rubbish that gets left around in the parks and on the grass - cooked chicken bones and cooked ribs are the worst things. In the summer it's a nightmare - some days I am constantly running around shouting at them to leave them or wrestling things out of their mouths....honestly why can't people put their rubbish in bins???? grrrr......... even with the weather so bad, it's amazing what food rubbish they seem to find, just today we had snow fall and Roddy found what looked like a piece of pizza crust to munch on...............

Anyway, abit off topic here, I am glad Charlie is feeling better, curious to know what tinned food you gave him? As well as their raw foods, I feed mine Orijen [it's a dry kibble] a couple of times a week as well - it's a really good quality kibble - they get it all the time when I am away or we are on holiday.

The tinned food we were using was Butchers. After some research it was the only one that actually had meat chunks in it and no added cereals and stuff. And its the jelly one not the gravy one. Theres various types of butcher and not all are brilliant but this one I use is good, cant remenber the name right now though.

Charlie is also very partial to apple, carrot, banana, satsumas, natural yogurt... *whispers* and banana cake I made today!
