Question about feeding raw diet

In a raw or BARF diet, why is it better to feed 'raw" meat instead of cooked?

Without looking anything up I believe raw meat has nutrients that are destroyed in cooking. In kibble there are supplements added, they don't need to be in raw. The food also digests faster, which is more natural for dogs.

today i started to add lean ground beef to Tie's food. He LOVED it but we'll see if he starts getting picky again in a few days

Keepers is back on raw and is so excited to eat. He is actually reminding me to feed him, not his normal MO. Plus his poops are perfect. We went back after a 4 day colitis flare up.

Yup , the cooking destroys some of the nutritional value of the food . But I think that feeding a home cooked diet or cooked meat is still has a better nutrition value vs kibble .

A agree because kibble is cooked at really really super high temps that destroy pretty much everything.

It is a way of feeding that some ( myself included) feel is the appropriate diet for carnivores . A natural diet that would mimic the diet of wolves .
With all of the illnesses both genetic and environmental I feel that by eliminating grains and all the chemicals and preservatives found in kibble that I will end up with a healthier dog . Not only now but this will continue to improve with each generation of raw fed dog .
Many diseases are not known whether they are genetic or environmantal , so to me by trying to eliminate some of the possible factors that may contribute to disease I will be reducing the chances of these illness in my dogs and their offspring . This goes hand in hand with a reduced vaccine schedule and titering instead of yearly vaccines .
Many people have seen improvement ( within a few weeks to a month ) in their dogs coat energy level , allergies and other conditions after switching to a raw diet . Some dogs will go through a detox period while other dogs never do . As well some dogs do not do well on a raw diet , as all dogs are different .
Many worry about the germs and bacteria found in raw food . In just about every area you will find bacteria including salmonella and e-coli in the soil . So for every horror story about a dog getting sick from salmonella there is no definate way to determine excatly how they contracted it .Dogs also have a much more acidic stomach so they can handle the small amount of bacteria better then a person can , their digestive tract is also shorter so the food passes through faster .

What she said!
Keepers is 100% healthier on raw... and happier, I think. He has colitis and allergies and sheds like a mad man on kibble. Raw is more expensive for us (Keepers has the metabolism of a hummingbird) but it it well worth it.
