Have any of you tried the BARF diet with your boxer? I've always wanted to do it, but have never actually committed to switching

For those of you who don't know what the BARF diet is we have an article about on the main page

Well we've thought about it, but the cost is a bit staggering. As well the prep time is alot compared to just buying normal dry food.

Well i know it's more expensive, but you can buy pre-made BARF meals at most pet stores now

Some years ago, when we had another dog called Riley (don't have him anymore). We were out of dog food and didn't have a dime to go buy any. I went on the net and found info on the BARF diet. I fixed him up some chicken, rice, broccoli...I can't remember what else. It wasn't hard, but I can see how it would get expensive real fast. He scarfed down the meal I'd made in less than five minutes.

We feed both dogs prepared raw patties from nature's variety. It has done wonders for both of them. Keepers has colitis and had never had a solid poop before raw. He now has normal BMs, doesn't shed much, has tons of energy and loves to eat. It is a bit of a pain compared to kibble, but both dogs are now so healthy. I'm a huge advocate of raw feeding so I'll cut myself off here

If you do decide to switch I would suggest not mixing kibble and raw. They digest differently and mixing can cause an upset. Switch over, cold turkey.
