I got this email today about Lola
Lola Goes Home!
It is with lifted spirits and endless gratitude that Take Me Home announces Lola's Homecoming! The dog that touched a million hearts is finally able to experience the love, the peace, and the security of her very own home. Take Me Home volunteers gathered round to watch Lola meet her new mommy for the first time and it was a sight that will be imprinted in our hearts forever. As if she knew her family had finally arrived, Lola ran right over to her mommy and introduced herself with endless Boxer hugs and kisses. It was a greeting that outshined any introduction we have ever seen. To all of you with generous hearts who reached out to this once neglected, suffering, homeless dog- Enjoy the happy ending that YOU made possible. Just look at the difference you have made and the future you provided for this very special girl.

Before we had a chance to even finish the sentence "Do you want to take her home?" mommy was asking to sign the papers and TMH volunteers lined up to say our bittersweet good byes...or shall we say "See you soon" as Lola's recovery will continue to be overseen and funded by Take Me Home.
Even our youngest TMH Member got in line for kisses as he bent down and gently whispered, "Good bye Lola. We love you."
And if there is any doubt in anyone's mind that this once emaciated, infected, suffering puppy that was cast into the yard to fend for herself will finally know what it's like to be someone's baby; You should know that she immediately claimed her spot in the car seat. I cried when I saw this picture because I knew our prayers had finally been answered....
Lola has her puppy hood back at last.

And as if the perfect mommy wasn't enough, how about the perfect home with a shaded lounging area in the back, just for Lola; So that she can enjoy the fresh outdoors without burning her new, delicate skin.

Not to mention a house full of comfy dog beds and soft rugs to lounge on as well. Imagine for just a moment, how good this must feel to a dog that was covered in open wounds and itchy, crawling skin; And forced to lay in the cold dirt every night to sleep.
In the world of rescue we can put everything we've got into saving a dog's life; Time, money, heart, and soul. But all of those efforts are in vain until we can find that dog a permanent home. And so for those of us at Take Me Home, the greatest reward is in letting go; In knowing we have given all the gifts we can give to a dog in need and that it is time to allow someone else to give the greatest gift of all; a family to call their own. It is at this time that we remind ourselves that we exist for one simple reason; To answer the desperate plea, "Take Me Home".
