Well that depends .
Plains are now getting their equal time in the ring and are actually in demand to have an excelent quality plain stud dog . Years ago plains were never shown as the flashier dogs were preferred and just about all plains were considered pets or kept as foundation bitches . darker fawns are prefered over the very light ones , although every person has their preferences.
The popularity of coat color varies as it always seems to go back and forth . Brindles are more popular then it goes back to fawns .
It also has something to do with what stud dogs are winning at any certain time , many people breed to the top winners of any given year . Since coat color is genetic the studs will influence what coat colors are produced .
So I don't think one color will win over the other, flashier tend to do better because the marking stand out . But this all depends on the judge . Some judges seem to prefer one coat color over the other . So you also have to be aware of what certain judges put up .

Didn't know sealed reverse brindles were frowned upon till I got Maggie, she is almost black.

By the way, I love her color, she looks beautiful and shiny. They should allow black (sealed reverse brindles. Just like White, if they are born that way, that should be allowed.

I am a bit confused with this statement. White boxers are not allowed to show in conformation as stated in the ABC code of ethics "The Boxer Standard defines the following disqualifications: Boxers that are any color other than fawn or brindle. Boxers with a total of white markings exceeding one-third of the entire coat."
Whites are able to be registered by the AKC , but they are just a registry. They have nothing to do with ABC .
Reverse , sealed or whatever you call a brindle it is a brindle , and can be shown .From the ABC standard "The colors are fawn and brindle. Fawn shades vary from light tan to mahogany. The brindle ranges from sparse but clearly defined black stripes on a fawn background to such a heavy concentration of black striping that the essential fawn background color barely, although clearly, shows through (which may create the appearance of reverse brindling). "
The only disqualifications are "Disqualifications
Boxers that are any color other than fawn or brindle. Boxers with a total of white markings exceeding one-third of the entire coat. "

I'm with Missi. I'm pretty sure the only problem with the "blackish" boxers are that morons are breeding them to create a geneticly impossible color and not breeding for health or to the standard.

So I guess Maggie is in conformance, she looks black, but in the sun you can see some brown along her sides. She is just really striking. Her Dad looks just like her, her Mom is a reverse red brindle. Love her mighty!
