Potty Training

how old was your boxer when he/she was fully trained to go outside? I remember with my brothers boxer, it seemed to take forever and ever, but with his doberman it was a fairly quick process.

Gee hard to remember because they say that they are considered house trained when there has been no accidents for a month. Umm from what I recall we were leaving her out in the house around Dec/Jan last year (because it was hot) and I wouldn't have done that if she was peeing in the house so I'd guess she was around three months old but if you were following the no accidents for a month thing it would have been closer to four months cause she did have a few accidents when we first got her. I do know I was pleasantly surprised with how fast she learnt (my friend had a diff breed dog that was the same age - one that is considered "more intelligent" than a Boxer and it was still pooping and peeing everywhere)

I just knew when we had Roxy as a puppy, she learned very very fast, but can't remember how long. It must have only been less than 2 months because she was so easily trainable, we got the second puppy, Rufus, who was not as cooperative as Roxy..... I didn't ever think he was going to be potty trained. But as we all know, girls are smarter than boys, LOL.

I've been trying to remember. At about 8 weeks he was well on his way to being house trained but I think it took another month or so maybe? I remember it went very quickly but I was home all the time to work with him on it. That should help you too - as I recall you work from home too.
The biggest problem we had was at night in his cage. But that was our fault because we had the cage too big so he pee'd in one half and slept in the other. When we cut down the size, he quit that.

Yeah we had to do night time potty training completely different to the way you guys do because we don't crate - that took a little longer. Are you going to crate train Ron?

All of mine were 100% trained by 6 months , even through the night .
Edy was by far the quickest learner( 4 months), but then I was working from home so I had her on a very good potty schedule .The whole litter was already starting on house training at about 6 weeks .

My last dog, dear Sherry, I got out of rescue at 6 months old. She wasn't house trained, but it only took me one whole day to teach her. She was sooooo clever - border collie x terrier of some type. Miss her sooo much......
