I agree getting one of the opposite sex would most likely work well , but getting one with the opposite temperment is much more important . You do not want 2 dominamt dogs even if the opposite sex .
Also remember that unless you have Sophie trained exactly the way you want her then you may want to put off getting another until you have her trained the way you want . Adding another dog will be stressful and both dogs may have training / house training set backs during the first few weeks . That is normal .
But do you want 2 that are not trained the way you want? The new dog will not know your rules or routine and will need time to adjust and learn .So he will need some training .
Do you have time to train 2 , seperately ? You will need to set some time aside to train each of the dogs seperately . Trying to work/train with both at the same time won't work .
If Sophie is trained to what level you like then the second dog may take some cues from her and could learn the ruls of your home easier . He will still learn from her but it may be some bad habits and not only good .
I am not trying to discourage you from adding another boxer. But many people forget about the time and training part of adding a second dog .
