Default Barking when we're gone... HELP

Whenever we leave the house we can here new boxer puppy barking up a storm. It's really loud, especially if a window is left open.

Is there anything we can do to prevent this?

Not really, In time the baby boxer will get used to you leaving the house and not bark "As Much" lol.

But there is another way that is believed to work...

Its a Collar that sprays the dog when it barks with water in the face.

But I don't know where you can buy them from though

Good Luck with your new boxer puppy

And hopefully he starts to calm down a bit for ya.

This is a pretty common thing for puppies to do, it's actually common even in adult dogs who go to a new home. They're just trying to adjust to the new surroundings and new situation.

The only thing you can do is wait and keep the window closed if the barking bothers your neighbors.

Weather the storm my friend. The worst thing you can do is not let him get used to being alone. Do that, you create yourself a real monster.

I must agree with Rich. I remember having the same problem (to varying degrees) with every dog I've ever owned. They just have to get used to it.

I've heard some people recommend leaving on the tv or a radio to "keep them company," but I personally don't think that's a good idea.

I'm a huge believer in crate training also. Make the crate a happy and safe place for the dog. Feed the dog in the crate, use stuffed kongs, etc. Once the dog is happy in there you can start shutting the door and eventually leaving. Never, ever let the dog out when it is barking, you will just make the dog think barking gets it out of the crate. Crate training can take anywhere from a few days to a few months but is totally worth it. Our younger dog will run to her crate as soon as she thinks we are leaving and wait for her kong.

thanks fo the advice everyone. We did use a crate for awhile and he did like it alot. I guess we'll try it again and see if it controls the barking at all.

thanks
