Thanks Doreen, that clip is really interesting, I can see that the whole spoon thing would work with some dogs, but it's not that different an idea from using treats in your hand really which for me personally would be more manageable than a spoon. Still, it was interesting to see it. I have never heard of that method before or seen it being used at any dog training class/workshop I have been too, probably, as you say because it is aimed for use with people with disabilities. Thanks all the same it's always good to learn something new.

Yes, Stephanie.... I always like to learn anything I can that can maybe help if something else doesn't work.

We take peaches offleash all the time. We usually don't ask her to walk beside us. At our cottage she knows that she is not allowed to go in people's property. There have been a couple times where she will spot a crow and as soon as she starts going for it we call her off!. We always walk with treats.

As for getting her to walk right beside us.... probably not going to happen...


My wife signed up for an offleash obedience class this fall. I don't know what it all curtails but it could be interesting.
