So far Charlie is doing great with his training. He rarely has accidents indoors now, he will go to the patio doors and tap the door when he wants to go outside. He will "sit", "lay down", "give paw", "come" and getting to grips with "stay" aswell now. With his food he knows he has to sit down, give paw and wait until we tell him he can eat. Only then will he eat his food!
I think for a almost 4 month old he is doing rather well. Im very proud of my Charlie!

good boy charlie!.we did the same thing with Bo for his food. it started as just not wanting him to get too excited about his food, but now he will just sit there until we tell him "go ahead" sometimes i forget and just walk away and he will still just sit there until i notice.. its so nice when they actually do what you ask isn't it.

Good job - both of you! It takes a lot of patience to train a boxer. Congrats!

That's great news and you are right to feel proud of him. Charlie sounds like a clever little pup.

I do the same for Shenzi! Guess it works huh?
Haha, Erin, that reminds me of one time with Scooby, I was in a rush to get laundry done, and I just tossed Scooby's food bowl in front of him without telling him to 'go'. I came back 10 minutes later and he was just sitting there staring at me, a puddle of drool around his paws. Poor guy! So funny though...

My father lived in Zimbabwe for many years before he married my mother (with his 1st wife) and they kept lots of large dogs for guard dogs, mostly alsatians. They were all trained with regards to food too. One night they went to a party in a neighbouring estate and put the food down for the dogs and went. Came back 4 hours later to find the dogs still sat there waiting to be told they could eat.
Poor buggers. LOL

He he funny puppers, sometimes I will walk away and do a task before I tell Rube she can have it - poor girl sits there staring at me, but makes me so proud of her when she does it, only one problem I forgot to tell the vet her cue when she had to stay in for her pancreatitis and she wouldn't eat for them, found out when I picked her up that they were pushing bits of food into her mouth to try and get her to eat as they couldn't let her home until they could she she could manage her food. Fudge weeell he is a work in progress with that one, he is still little and will sit but sometimes get up when I am going to put the bowl down or I will put the bowl down tell them to "watch" which he will do but then automatically go to eat before I have told him "it's yours" which is the actual cue so poor Ruby sometimes has to wait patiently while we correct Fudge.
