Yay Newman.... seems like most boxers end up needing some extra training, LOL.

Will you take Shiro with you?

He has door and gate issues. Even as a tiny puppy he tried to open doors and gates at the door nob or latch, and knew just where and what the crate latch was for. When he has something open he uses his big alligator head to fling things open.

He has to sit quietly for a reasonable period of time before I open doors and gates, but sometimes . . . many times . . . I have to wait a LONG time for him to settle down and set and stay.

A neighbor has a horse that opens gates.

I'm surprised they recommended level one. That's commands like Sit and Stay - does he require that? Or is it other commands like Down Stay that you are looking for? We never really worked on Down vs Sit with Buddy. I don't know why - never had a use for it, I guess. When we say Sit, as long as he sits (or lays down) in one place until we tell him Release, we're happy.

Looks like a great place. But I have to say, if they could teach "basic healing" (like their site says), I'd drive up and take the class myself. Unfortunately, I'm afraid that's just another indication that spell checkers will never replace human editors.

It'll be fun to hear how it goes. Newman's obviously smart, and I suspect he'll have no problem picking up the commands....if he wants to.

hahah nice catch!

we said he can do basic commands, but they said he should start at level one anyway

Hopefully he'll be the smartest dog in the class....
