House breaking.

My husband and I have a 10 week old puppy(8weeks when we got him) and I take him and our adult boxer out at least once an hour to potty and such. He is really good about going pee outside even though he has about 1 pee accident a day but going poo is seems to be much harder for him to catch on to because he will head to the door after peeing and I will take him to the potty spot a few times and tell him to go potty and when he hasn't gone and we are out there for a while I decide to come in and around 5 to 10 minutes later he goes inside... I tell him bad potty in a stern voice and carry him outside to the potty spot. When he goes potty outside I tell him good potty and pet him. He has anywhere from 1 to 3 poo accidents inside. We use the crate at night and when we are away and he does really well in it. Any advice would be helpful. Thank you.

Well, I think he's doing amazingly well! Wally didn't have a clue until he was at least 12 weeks old. (We have a doggy door, but he still didn't get it. Even with our older dog to show him the ropes). Repetition is the key, it seems like they're NEVER gonna get it-- and then one day Shazzam!

I'm so glad to see that I'm not the only one going thru this, lol! I watch Amber eat so I can scoop her up as soon as she's finished to avoid a poo accident inside. She is getting much in her crate tho. We've had two dry and clean nights so far! When we have a potty accident I've been taking it out w/ us on a paper towel (i know, ewww) and putting it on the grass in front of her and then waiting her out for a little bit of poo outside where she should be going - then massive praise and a warm cuddle. (which is generally followed by her trying to chew all of my fingers off...)

Give it some time, seriously. 10 weeks old and you expect a fully housebroken puppy?

Anybody ever had one that poops before it pees? She poops twice and pees once almost every time. The second poop looks like she's expressing her anal glands because it has a whitish goo at the end. I know this is really yucky stuff to talk about, but EVERY dog I've ever had always had to pee first before it pooed.

I know that Ruby runs down the garden first thing in the morning and does her funny poo dance around the bricks and then poops first before she does any wees. I never really paid that much attention to who does what first tbh, but now I think about it, most times they do wee first.

Going with your anal gland thing...I do know that bigger dogs release their glands on their own when they poo. So, that is normal. I would be more worried if she doesn't release them on her own.
And, the order...I wouldn't really concern myself with that as long as she is going. But me, personally, I've never had one that poo'ed before pee'ed!! LOL
