Think good thoughts for Keepers

When we brought Keeps home he had MAJOR leash aggression. He wanted to eat every dog he saw.... not a little bark here or there but full out crazy. Well we found an awesome in home trainer and used her once a week for three months. We've been weaning Keepers off weekly visits and he starts his group class tonight. The class is for dogs with leash issues (some are just plain aggressive) and taught by our home trainer.

I am SO nervous. Keeps is getting rescue remedy before we go... and I'll have a beer (or 2). He's also getting a DAP bandana and will be wearing his martengale collar and prong hooked together by a coupler (so he doesn't get much correction). I'm so worried! This is going to be A LOT for him to handle.

He's come a really long way and this class is what he needs right now, but the first few weeks will be hard. Wish us luck!

That was rough! Keepers needed a special barrier to keep us apart from everyone else. He did eventually calm down though and was even doing some "watch me"s near the end. I hope that by the 3rd week he will only bark a few minutes before settling in.

Yeah, I really think this class is going to help him a lot. I know our trainer wouldn't have put us in it if we weren't ready. Our trainer had us stay after class and Keepers got off leash in the room and just sniffed everything and played with our trainer and her husband.

We are so lucky to have found this trainer. If we hadn't we probably would have given him back to rescue because we couldn't deal with him and then he would have needed to be adopted to a house with a yard and would never have gotten walks.

how old is keepers?

The rescue told us 2-3, the vet said he could be as young as 1.5.
