Where do you put your dog crate?

I'm going to be getting a new puppy soon (sooner than later i hope) and will be crate training him. I was just wondering where you put the crate at night? Should i keep him in my room with me, or is that the start of a bad idea.......Tie sleeps in my room

Both of our dog crates are in the bedroom. I imagine if the puppy has a hard time at first you can move it until it adjusts. Puppies need to go potty a few times during the night, so having it in the bedroom might be nice so you can hear if he wakes up to go out.
