Wow tough task for sure.

gestures combined with maneuvering the dog into the desired position would be my only suggestion.

I'm sure there are multiple approaches to training a deaf dog. I think the key would be patients and consistency.

That's a pretty cool guide - even if your dog's not deaf! I just got done reading The Story of Edgar Sawtelle, in which the main character is a mute boy who trains dogs using sign. I wondered how that worked, and that link was very informative. Good adjunct to verbal commands that I hope to use now too. Thanks!
