Hi My 1 1/2 year old boxer is bad about pulling. Any recommendations on good harnesses? (I have heard that no pull systems that are placed over the dog's nose can be dangerous to boxers since they have a shorter snout)

Well we have the same problem with Bo. He pulls pretty bad but were working on it. Some have told me to use prongs, martingale, no pull harnesses, and hallti's. Bo has a Halti and he's pretty good on it. It doesn't affect him at all with his nose. I may switch and get him a martingale, but for now were sticking with the head halti. We bought him a regular harness but it was to small so we use it on abby and she has stopped pulling. My friend who has a boxer mix uses a prong collar for her dog but then other friend uses a no-pull harness. But no matter what u use you are still going to have to put some training behind it

This is Bo in his head Halti

i found tie can escape easily from the "gentle leader" but the halti did work quite well when us use to pull.

Keepers escaped from the Halti several times. I found training them not to pull has been the only thing that really works. We take steps back when they pull.

Which ever type of harness or collar you choose you still will have to train him to walk nicely without pulling . He will have no idea what is acceptable unless you show him . A harness or pinch / choke collar will not solve the problem itself , it is a tool to help . Any type of collar or harness can be harmful if not used properly .

Start by taking short walks , when he pulls either stop walking (or change directions ). this will teach him that he does not get to pull forward and if he does the walk stops. When he comes back to your side on loose lead begin walking again .

If he is food motivated then use treats to reward him when he does well . And lots of verbal praise too .

This will take time and even weeks but you have to be consistant . he has had 1 1/2 years to learn he can pull it will take time to teach him new walking rules .

Daisey's Mom: I contacted AnimalCoaching. She is a wonderful person, and has been very helpful over email. She is sending me more information, but I have a great feeling about her and her methods. Thank you sooooo much for the lead.

You are so welcome! Maureen is great. Besides her help over the phone I have had one session with her and I learned so much. Daisy has come so far on what she taught me in that one session.
