Backpacking

Have any of you backpacked with your dog? I did last year, but am looking for suggestings, such as what you always pack for your dog, dog backpacks you recommend, any special dog bowls/water carriers you take... I know the basic rules of backpacking with dogs (such as cleaning up after them, keeping them on the leash) so please don't reply with these items. However, I would appreciate helpful information learned while backpacking with boxers.

We plan to hike 20 miles in 2 days so nothing huge (and nothing my dog hasn't done before)

i don't have any suggestions but i do envy you I'm going on a canoe trip in July and i would love to take my boxer, but he's older (almost 9) and has no experience in a canoe
