OK I have not had a pup since my kids were little and it is a whole new ball of wax!!! Last night was rough!! Georgie girl is not use to being in the crate so I put her dog bed by mine. She went to sleep fine but after a hour or so she got up. I got up with her put her out to potty. She did this all night and about 3 decided to get up for good. I put her out brought her back to bed she got right up. Started bugging Bobby (our other dog). I got her again tried putting her in my bed....that lasted for about 5 minutes. I finally got her settled down at about 4:30 she slept to about 6 when my husband got up.

I know it should not be a potty issue because she is use to holding it all night. She slept in her foster moms bed all night. I guess I will try the crate.

It is going to take her a few weeks to adjust to her new home and routine . And for you to see the real Georgie .
It will be hard at first but I would try to stick to a routine, what ever you want for that to be . That way in a few weeks when she is more comfortable and shwoing her trues self the rules will not change and she will not have to adjust again.

You may have a rough couple nights. When we brought the pups home and crate trained them, the rules were NEVER let them out when they are cying. they have to be quiet first or you will teach them that if they cry for 2 hrs you'll open the door. LOL, it's not funny actually! We also either put a chair by their crate, or laid on the floor next to it, but we got the dog used to sleeping in the crate (where we wanted the crate) and then we gradually moved away until they slept in their crate all night. That took about 3 days with Poppy because Daisys crate is close. But when we brought Daisy home I think it was a good week or two. We also like to give a comfy stuffie and turn the radio on low. Trust me, you'll get beyond sleep deprivation and it will be worth it. This only lasts a short time if you are persisitent!

Yeah it took GiGi about 3 weeks to open up completely. I agree with Missi in sticking to a schedule. Keep updated how it's going.
