Any suggestions on how to get Georgie to quit "going" on my backyard concrete patio and walkways? When I am outside with her she goes where she is supposed to go, on the grass or dirt but when I am not with her she goes on the concrete. Is this just a "puppy thing" that she will outgrow ( she is 5 months old now)? I am sick of having to clean the patio and walkways daily. We are on restricted water use here in my area. Hopefully I won't get caught washing my patio down everyday.

The only way it to take her out on lead everytime and make sure she goes where you want her to .If she has the chance to potty on the patio she will . So the best way is to not allow her to go on the patio . She is still getting used to the rules at your house and it can take weeks for her to get used to all that is new .

You can teach her a command to go with her potty area . Every time she is walking to the potty area give the command and praise / treat her when she gets there . After a while she will connect the word with the potty area . You can even teach a command for the pottying itself .

This will take time for her to get the idea . just be consistant and do not give up .

Poppy did the same thing.... Pee'd on my deck!! I had to go out with her every time and stop her from peeing on the deck and praising her for going in the grass. She's back to being pretty reliable again but we still watch her fairly close just to be safe.
